Discovering Westbrook, Oklahoma: A Hidden Gem?
Okay, so Westbrook, Oklahoma. It’s in Tulsa County, right? Population’s around 27,000, I think. Seems small, but wow, this place is packed! Seriously, rich history, a booming economy – I was surprised. This article’s gonna tell ya all about it. I’m kinda excited, actually.
Westbrook’s History: Founded way back in 1905. Farming community, you know? Didn’t become a city ’til 1910. Named after Westbrook Creek, pretty straightforward. It’s grown a lot since then, focusing on education, healthcare – the usual suspects.
The Economy: It’s diverse! Healthcare’s huge. Education too, thanks to the University of Tulsa. Lots of retail and manufacturing jobs too. It’s really thriving, I gotta say. Makes you think, huh?
Demographics: Mostly white, but with significant African American and Hispanic populations. Median income’s around 43,000, homes are about 120,000. It’s got a strong community feel, lots of festivals. Really nice people, from what I heard.
The U of T: Yeah, the University of Tulsa is there. Big deal. Offers tons of programs. It’s a private research university, pretty prestigious. It’s a major draw for the city, for sure.
Getting Around: Interstate 244 and US Highway 169 are nearby. Plus, Tulsa International Airport isn’t far. So, getting around shouldn’t be a problem. Unless there’s traffic, of course.
Recreation: Parks, green spaces, lakes, rivers – the works! Boating, fishing, hiking – you name it. It’s got that small-town charm, but with big-city amenities. I’m already planning a trip!
Events: Westbrook Festival, Tulsa World’s Fair, Jazz Fest – they’ve got it all. Seems like there’s always something going on. It’s a lively place, I’ll give it that.
Conclusion: Westbrook’s a real find. It’s got that small-town feel, but with a thriving economy and lots to do. I’m telling ya, check it out! You won’t regret it. Seriously.
