The Washington Post? Big changes, man. Jeff Bezos, right? He’s really shaken things up. Shipley’s gone! The opinion editor, a conservative voice, he’s outta there. Wow.
This new focus, “personal liberties and free markets,” sounds kinda… uh… sketchy to some. Staffers are worried. Over 400 signed a letter! They’re stressed, I can tell ya. Some are praising Bezos, though. Go figure.
Bezos bought the Post in ’13, a cool 250 million. Since then? Lotsa changes. New leadership, new initiatives. It’s been a wild ride. Shipley was there since ’15, a pretty big deal. He wrote a lot, mostly politics and culture stuff.
Readers are all over the map. Social media’s blowin’ up. Some love the free speech angle. Others? They think Bezos is biased. It’s a mess, honestly.
What’s next? More meetings, I guess. Bezos wants a “vibrant and diverse” opinion section. We’ll see. It’s gonna be interesting, that’s for sure. A real rollercoaster. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. This whole thing is a drama.
