Abolishing the IRS? Crazy talk, right? But it’s a real debate! This whole thing’s a mess. The IRS, that’s the tax collector, you know? They collect taxes. It’s a big deal. A huge part of the government. A 2021 bill tried to scrap it. The Withholding Reform Act, I think? It didn’t pass, thankfully. Phew!
Some folks want it gone. Less government control, they say. Lower national debt, too. More efficient, they claim. But seriously? Who’s gonna collect taxes then? It’s a nightmare scenario. We’d lose tons of revenue. Taxpayers would be screwed. It’d be a disaster! The economy would tank. I’m telling ya!
There are alternatives, supposedly. Self-assessment? Good luck with that! RAGS tax withholding? Sounds like a headache. A national sales tax? That’s just another can of worms. So many problems. So many questions.
The IRS is flawed, sure. But abolishing it? That’s insane. It’s a vital part of our system. We need it, even if it’s a pain. For now, at least, the IRS ain’t goin’ anywhere. But this debate? It’s far from over. It’s a real mess. A real, real mess.
