Philadelphia Inquirer’s Rich History Continues

The Philadelphia Inquirer: A Legacy of Truth and Transparency, kinda. I mean, mostly.

As one of the oldest newspapers still goin’ in the US, the Philly Inquirer’s been a big deal in Philly for, like, almost two hundred years. It’s got a crazy history, startin’ way back in 1829 – wow, right? They’ve always, well, mostly always, been committed to facts, investigative stuff, and stories that, you know, actually matter. Sometimes. Okay, most of the time.

A History of Excellence (ish)

Started in 1829 by some guy named Hugh Henry Brackenridge. Sounds fancy, huh? Anyway, the paper’s had its ups and downs, lots of changes, but they’ve stuck to the truth… for the most part. Seriously, though, 2022 was a big year – Alden Global Capital bought them. I heard they’re pretty good with money, which is good, because newspapers need money, right? I hope they didn’t mess things up too much.

Digital Transformation (It’s a thing!)

They’ve gone all digital, which is kinda cool. New app, new website – it’s all very modern. I think. I’m not really tech savvy, but I heard they got a lot more readers online now. Good for them!

Investigative Journalism (The good stuff)

They’re really good at digging up dirt. Seriously. In 2022, they did some amazing exposés on, like, corruption, police stuff, and government shenanigans. They won a bunch of awards for it, which is awesome.

“The Philadelphia Inquirer’s COVID-19 Coverage”: They really went deep on that. I remember reading some of it. It was intense.
“The Inquirer’s Investigation into Police Corruption”: This one was a real eye-opener. Made me think a lot.
“The Inquirer’s Coverage of the 2020 Presidential Election”: It was… a lot. I think everyone was stressed out back then.
